Moomers on Good Morning America

This is at Moomer's Ice Cream on Satuday, voted the best ice-cream place in America according to ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" last week.
There was already a crowd at Moomer's about 5:45 Saturday morning. The taping-crew truck and satellite uplink were off to the right.

They had a calf named Marysol in a pen outside.

This Moomer's guy seemed to be running the show behind the counter, passing out lots of free ice-cream cones.

This is one of the cones they gave out, being passed through the crowd. At one point, someone joked "Take a lick and pass it on". It appears to be mint-chip ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone.

A guy in a cow-suit worked the audience outside....

It was very packed inside the small building.

There were a lot of false starts. A director told us when to cheer, when to hold up ice-cream cones, and when to be silent. I did appear on live TV in a crowd scene.

Sounds like a fun time was had by all. Ice cream in the morning sounds a little funky but, hey, it was all for a good cause.

There's room for them down Dearborn way with some Baskin & Robbins closing. I suppose they could say, "A little taste of the country in the city!"

Did they use TV 7 & 4's satellite truck for the uplink? For a long time NBC 7 & 4 had the only uplink truck in Northern Michigan. I thought it would be ironic using an NBC uplink truck for ABC's Good Morning America.

Good for you. Too bad we couldn't have watched it to see you in the crowd scene.

I will have to get up near Traverse City one day and try this place out. Either that or tell the Alien to go there when he might next be up there.

I haven't watched GMA in decades. Last tie I knew, it was hosted by David Hartman and/or Joan Lunden. Relatives don't watch it either, and did not answer their phones when I found out I was going to be on live. One of my long-term "regulars" knows what I look like, but does not watch GMA either.

The uplink truck did not have the 7&4 label on it.

Bring a Hummer, MiniJonB, even if it costs you $700 in gas to get there: the road around it is the roughest I have seen anywhere.

I wish I could get up there, but I'm only going to Muskegon, MI next week. That place seems quite good. Great pictures.

hmm, 2nd post about a new-to-me ice cream place that has no presence anywhere near me.

Sounds like a great, funny, oh-thanx-a-lot joke played by the aliens that are controlling our world.

HAHAHA. VERY funny.
