Full Moon - October

Full moon this morning. This one is designated "Full Harvest Moon".

According to a list of folk names for the moon, this is the "Blood Moon": " a time to recall the blessings of former loves and prepare for winter loving; a time to renew one's commitment to a lover"

The Ojibwe (Chippewa) Indians have designated this the "Falling Leaves Moon" .

Below is a Youtube clip of Neil Young playing his song "Harvest Moon". It is the title track of the album of the same name. "Harvest Moon". The album "Harvest Moon" was a sequel to the album "Harvest".

This clip is kind of a live, "Unplugged"-style version, with a rich clear intimate sound to it.

I missed it, but I'll have to look tonight when it will still be nearly-full.

We sat out Saturday night and watched videos by the pit fire. The moon lit the world to twilight level. It was lovely. Then yesterday as I sped back toward my home, the moon watched over me as I drove... just to my direct right until the curves brought me round to where it magically stood above my home. Lovely.

I like you picture and the video both. I like the ideas of the Blood Moon too. Indeed, good ideas. Send off the old and welcome the new. :-)

One moon over us all. Can anyone stand and look up at it and not feel peaceful? Your photo looks especially peaceful to me.

Our friend and colleague, Shaw, has had a recurrence of cancer. This is her second bout in as many years. This year, Shaw has suffered other setbacks as well. Earlier this year, her sister passed away. And she worries about another family member who is gravely ill.

On top of this run of bad luck, Shaw is also being harassed by a cyber-bully. I can’t think of anything more hurtful … to be attacked at a time like this.

Shaw and I exchanged several e-mails earlier today. With her knowledge and permission, I have put up this post, Stop the sadistic and sexist cyber-bullying now!.

Please drop by and leave a kind word for Shaw. She is a good person who deserves our support.

Beautiful picture! I have always thought the harvest full moon was the best. I just like autumn. I think. I also like Neil Young. Thanks for sharing him.

That's EXACTLY the song I was thinking of-and the version, too!

Spooky.
