This postcard is from 100 years ago, and is of Honor, in Benzie Country, Michigan. I think one or two of the wooden buildings in the view might still be standing? The weather is a lot like this right now, but they try not to leave a layer of snow on the roads. And of course there aren't many trees around to make big logs like this. I can't think of a good song to tie in to Honor, but there is a song called Big Log. I never knew what it had to do with logs:
I don't think I'd want to be standing near that stack of logs if I were that young lady. Come to think of it, I wouldn't want to be sitting atop that stack of logs either. It looks dangerous to me.
I had the same question about that song. I always liked it, I just could never figure out the title. I remember it was years of hearing it on the radio until I figured out which song it was.
(See, kids, back the days before Google, ya hadta go learn stuff. No, really. I swear.)

It's fascinating for me to see big sleds like that. Beautiful card.
Very cool card. It does remind me of something I wouldn't want to be next to...like those car transporters. I'm always sure the chains will break.
Neat post card. I guess that's why the trees aren't there anymore.
Like some of the other comments, logs, pipes, lumber... it's all scary to be too near.
Scary to near such heavy equipment and giant logs.. Attack of the Giant Log! Very cool postcard..!
I was just skiing there at Crystal Mtn. I always liked that song.
