I got a Southern Rock. It was great. Does anyone have a favorite fancy-hotdog restaurant? Are such places even common?
Back to the "butt warmers", they featured the logo of the Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival: a parka-bundled comedian by a microphone. It reminded me of this postcard from 1917, of "Obleka an Eskimo Woman in Native Costume, showing The Parkie Hood."

I have had the chicago dog. I even had one in chicago.
I think my traditional dog has chili cheese and onions.
While we are on the subject of hotdogs I will recommend Ball Park smoked turkey. It is supposedly only 45 calories. I'm not sure if I believe that, but that is what is says on the label. If you can get those on the grill with some onions they are really good. You can have your diet and eat at the picnic too.
That's one thing I miss about not living in Chicago - there are no hotdog places in Iowa. So sad.
Those butt warmers are a hoot!
My favorite hot dog was a variation on the Southern Rock... coleslaw and fresh tomato chunks on a polish sausage in a garlic bun! YUM.
Love the butt warmers!
I am a big fan of the chili cheese dog, myself. We have quite a few specialty hot dog place here...no surprise I guess. Pinks is great!
Laughing: I can't recall ever having a Chicago dog, in or out ot Chicago. Making one at home with the Ball Park smoke turkey frank might be a good idea?
House of Doggs hotdogs are probably not turkey, but have that "snap" when you bite into them.
Churlita: I forgot about the coney place around here, too. I didn't know that Iowa lacked them.
Ananda: That Southern Rock one sounds great!
Laura: I haven't had a chili cheese dog, yet. In fact, I can only recall having had a chili dog once. A stranger bought me one in Houston.
My favorite place to go for a good Hot Dog is a downtown kiosk or the vendors out front of the Mall.. They have decnt toppings and good prices..
I love free stuff. If it's free, I'll take it.
As far as good hotdogs, I really like Nathan's. Back in the day you could only get them at Coney Island, but now they're carried in most supermarkets.
