Our Greatest Sleestak (Michigan Hometown Heroes)

I haven't done a Michigan Hometown Heroes entry lately, but here is one of Bill Laimbeer. Not only is he the most famous Sleestak of all, he was famous as a basketball player during the Detroit Pistons' championship years, and also as coach of the WNBA Detroit Shock until very recently. That's Bill to the right. He's one of the three, but I'm not sure which one.

The video below discusses and illustrates his basketball and Sleestak career:

"He still has those big bug eyes and look at that desire to win..." haha! Nice commentary. And a very cool hometown hero to be able to claim :-)

I think he's a California guy (which was how he ended up on "Land of the Lost"), but he has a long-time association with Michigan due to the sports teams.

As a Bostonian born and bred, I am duty bound to hate Laimbeer-a cheap shot artist and a dirty player.

That being said? Like Claude Lemieux or Danny Ainge or Reggie Jackson, I would have loved Laimbeer if he played for Boston.

Sports, like life, is relative.

Yes. Thanks for your help on the embedding!

Yes, Laimbeer was known for crude basketball. And constantly trying to get Marshall, Willy, and Holly fed to the Sleestak God.

Once a Sleestak, always a Sleestak.
