Our Greatest Sleestak (Michigan Hometown Heroes)

I haven't done a Michigan Hometown Heroes entry lately, but here is one of Bill Laimbeer. Not only is he the most famous Sleestak of all, he was famous as a basketball player during the Detroit Pistons' championship years, and also as coach of the WNBA Detroit Shock until very recently. That's Bill to the right. He's one of the three, but I'm not sure which one.

The video below discusses and illustrates his basketball and Sleestak career:

Wolverine

An excellent, detailed statue of Wolverine from the local comic book convention a couple of weeks ago.

He was about a foot and a half tall, as I recall. And custom-made by the artist, who was attending the convention and showing these statues at his booth.

Sometimes in the comics, and never in the movies, Wolverine is depicted as he is here, with blue and yellow spandex. Coincidentally, these are also the colors of the University of Michigan Wolverines sports teams.

Yes, I've seen 3 of the 4 movies with Wolverine in them. These were the X-Men movies. I thought they were all very good. I've not seen the movie entitled "Wolverine", and have not heard one good thing about it.

If you had to choose, which would you want/ Wolverine's mutant healing ability, or his claws that can slice through steel?

Man walking on water and giant cow

It was very hazy and even a little foggy when I snapped this photo of West Grand Traverse Bay during the National Cherry Festival.
The man walking on water was actually standing in a kayak. The bay was as smooth as glas. And Ruthie the Country-Fresh Giant Cow stands on the right.

Gibby's fries

There's a carnival downtown, and once again Gibby's Fries is back. Who can resist these? I think they're the best in the country. I've not had better.
