Green Lantern Restaurant

In brightest day, in blackest night...

A postcard from the 1950s of the Green Lantern Restaurant in Fayetteville, NC. Just one of many establishments across the nation bearing the name of the popular DC Comics superhero.

Great photo on the postcard with the 50s cars...and I like "Come as you are" :-)

I love this! As it happens, the man and I are getting ready to go enjoy The Green Lantern at the movies today. Woot! And like laura b.- I just love those vintage cars.

I wonder if the owner really heard of Green Lantern and named the restaurant after him.

Sweet! Look at nice ride under the sign.

This is awesome (though I must confess to being more of a Marvel fan). I can almost hear Fats Domino and Sam Cooke in the background.

Did they give away free rings with dinner?

Laura: Probably back then "come as you are" casual would look pretty formal now. A "come as you are" place now would attract the unwashed and shirtless. And this Taco Bell quarter-slot man.

Silly: So, how did you like it?

Rob: I've found much evidence of many Green Lantern restaurants and bars. I am doubting at this time that they were influenced by what is a relatively-obscure comic book character. The general public can't distinguish between the Green Hornet and Green Lantern, after all.

There are also a bunch of Red Lantern restaurants.

Leticia: Yes, great cars.

Will: I go half and half. DC has nothing that stacks up to the X-men like that, and nothing Marvel has can touch Batman or Superman as iconic heroes. But my favorite heroes, and equally so, have long been Iron Man and Green Lantern.

cube: Perhaps Homer Simpson might be one to mistake an onion ring for a Green Lantern power ring.

Very cool looking.

The Green Lantern comics now have a Red Lantern Corps. I wonder if DC stole that idea from the restaurants.

Goeff Jones, the current Roddenberry of the Green Lantern world, figured why not have a whole spectrum of Lanterns. 7 colors, I think. Including black, yellow, orange, and red.
