Here's another Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine with a surreal cover similar to the art of Rene Magritte.. The artwork is entitled "Exposures" and is by Robert Crawford. This issue, from Julu 6, 1981, contains an short story be Gregory Benford. The group of authors David Brin, Greg Bear, and Gregory Benford were known as the :"Killer B's". They were prolific, wrote many short stories for Asimov's magazine, wrote many novels, and won many awards.
Brin is one of my favorite science fiction authors. and Benford has written some interesting novels that have a strong influence from William Faulkner.
Asimov's is still published. I wonder though how literary magazines of short stories are surviving in the Internet age. Are there any of these that anyone is reading now? Science fiction, fantasy, mysteries, westerns, regional literature, or other subjects?

Friends of mine still read and publish in small literary journals, but the readership can't be very great. Some of those lit journals are now publishing online, too. I miss fiction in ordinary magazines. And that reminds me, do you read the NEW YORKER? And have you read any of Michael Chabon's books or stories? Specifically, THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER AND CLAY seems one you would like. It was my #1 favorite novel the year it came out and won the Pulitzer, which I think (without checking) was 1999.
I read the New Yorker in doctors offices actually, and greatly enjoy the articles and stories. And yes, the cartoons.
I have read "Kavalier and Clay", and loved so many aspects of it. I have a Golem of my own, which came from Prague. But it is tiny and it hasn't crumbled.
I subscribed to Asimov for many years. Loved it. Unfortunately, I don't have the free time I used to have before my children came into the world.
I have actually have never read or heard of Isaac Asimov's Science fiction magazine. And I am sci-fi geek. How sad is that?
I had a subscription to Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine way back in the 70s. But like Cube, once I had my kiddos, that was one of the things that slipped away.
I rarely get any magazines these days, not even Smithsonian or The New Yorker (which has an excellent short story edition once a year). I was spoiled when I worked in the school library because I could read so many wonderful publications for free.
I really like the "Killer B's". All are great to read.
