| Postcard - First Congregational Church, Keene, NH |
The First Congregational Church in Keene, NH survives pretty much intact, building-wise and institutionally (it is now a United Church of Christ congregation, which includes what used to be called Congregational) You can even
like it on Facebook. According to the
church web site, this building has stood and has been used since 1786, which makes it just a a couple of years older than the United States Constitution, and three years older than the Bill of Rights:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Impressive: Modern buildings seem to decay much faster.
Do you have any idea how old that picture is, dmarks? It looks like it may have preceded the green by some (though, yes, the surrounding buildings do look familiar).......I would also add that the Main Street is really nice and that you can actually see the church from straight on for about a mile away.
It looks typical of a card from 100 years ago... the heyday of the postcard.
