Statuesday - War between the States

Paris TN Confederate Statue
While hardly a man is still alive who remembers the Civil War, soldiers still remember it. Statue soldiers, that is. The first image is of a Confederate soldier statue in Paris Tennessee, a way down south in Dixie. The postcard is a linen-style card from the mid-20th century. The monument still stands (click here to read about it)

The rather recent other image, below, is of a similar statue: on the other side. Rededicated on  Memorial Day, May 30, 2005,  the Traverse City Civil War Monument  It is a photo, not a postcard.

We can assume that Paris will once again host the World\'s Biggest Fish Fry this Spring. Good south
wind and the smell will waft up to Traverse City.

I'd completely forgotten the previous visit to Paris in this blog:

And Paris was already snagged by someone else in the Postcard Friendship Friday feature which I often participate in:

There's a real pretty one on the green in Keene NH, right next to an old cannon and some cannon balls.

I like the idea of "Statuesday." I may try that on my blog.

I am currently working on a feature on Abraham Lincoln statue postcards for my postcardy.com website.

Postcardy: Welcome to it. The more the merrier. I didn't quite invent it. I see there is a similar Youtube feature

No, it's a Civil War monument and a part of a truly beautiful New England green. You really should check Keene NH out some time.
